Linkedin Stats and Uses Infographic
For serious networking, it may be hard to find a social platform that delivers more then Linkedin. Many people pass over Linked in because they haven’t looked under the hood enough to see what you can really do or how big it is. I remember when it first came out I was an early adopter and it fit into one of those categories of sites I made a profile on and then never really came back to for a long time. Well, Linkedin is all grown up now and I have come back to to expand my use of it in my social media outlets. Here are two key things you may not realize about Linkedin.
1 – Linkedin lets you get to know a person in a way that normal profile simply don’t. One example here is work history. Most social media profiles are generic or shallow at best. Linkedin lets you see where a person has worked, skills they may list, and recommendations they have been given. Just the job history and ability to look up that company can tell you a lot of information on the types of work they have done and the environments they have been used to. This is great for both professional connections, networking, and recruiting. If you compare a regular resume that is tailored to the job they are looking to get, you won’t see things in their right perspective. Linkedin lets you get a much more accurate feel for their experience both professional and personal.
2 – Networking by topic and category is huge. To be able to hangout with a group of dentists, or connect with people who are part of a specific group or profession is powerful. If you go to a networking event or professional event you don’t know exactly who everyone is or their background. Linkedin is like networking 2.0. You can see where they worked, who they are connected to that you may know, and learn about the companies they have worked for all before joining a group and getting to know them. This helps you make stronger connections and build better relationships.
It is time to take a second look at Linkedin and use it to strengthen relationships and build key new relationships. If you want to connect on Linkedin with me click here and send me an invite.
